Welcome!
Thank you for visiting the official web page of Ireland's Domestic Effluent Treatment Association (DETA).

DETA was established to address the pressing issue of the adequate treatment and disposal of domestic wastewater. In particular, we felt that septic tanks had become an outdated and unsatisfactory means of wastewater disposal and that only properly designed and maintained wastewater treatment systems could alleviate the risk of groundwater pollution from residential buildings.

Secondly, it was felt that there was a need to introduce standards in the industry covering:
  1. System Design
  2. System Installation
  3. System Operation and
  4. Customer Service
Thirdly, we felt there was a need for an industry voice to talk with and influence Regulatory Authorities, Local Authorities the professions (engineering, architectural and legal) and the end users.
